23rd May 2018
Whittington House residents in Cheltenham trialed the Omi table during dementia action week this week #DAW18.The OMI table is a system that responds to gesture and movement creating dynamic images on any surface, these act as a visual/aural sensory stimuli and can have in maintaining and improving;a positive impact improving language and communication skills, coordination and physical ability, and emotional health and wellbeing. Those with age-related illness can take part in the activity rather than passively watch and it promotes socialising and residents can enjoy meaningful activities together. These activities promote stretching (across the table), competition between each other, thinking and be challenged with the games and quizzes that are included in the applications. The residents thoroughly enjoyed using the piece of equipment and we look forward to buying one for the home.[gallery size="medium" link="file" ids="26752,26751,26750,26749,26748,26747"]Whittington House Nursing Home in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire is a modern, purpose-built home and provides residential, nursing and specialist dementia care for up to 66 people. If you would like to find out more about life at Whittington House, or would like to speak to a member of our team, please contact us on 0808 223 5396 or [email protected].
