The Orchard put their hand to flower arranging
12th May 2016
At The Orchard Nursing Home in St Albans, the residents take great pride in their home.Regular activity is extremely beneficial to our residents who have beginning dementia or concentration issues, but it is also very enjoyable for our residential residents. Activities help to keep them involved in the world around them, provides them with daily activity, and exercises their brain. Activities such as these are particularly helpful for the elderly who could use a little mind or brain exercise. Our flower arranging activities provide the perfect opportunity for some of our residents to create floral displays around the home. Those who are maybe not as able as others create smaller arrangements for the dining tables. This activity grows with our residents taking an interest in what colour schemes and which flowers to choose. Residents even plant bulbs for the spring, which then gives even more activities ideas, such as selling planted bulbs for charity, giving planted bulbs to family and friends as gifts and entering local spring flower shows.[gallery ids="13570,13569,13568"]
