Parris Lawn Wears it Pink this October
The residents and team at Parris Lawn Care Home have been joining in a number of fundraising activities to support the Wear it Pink Day in aid of Breast Cancer Now.
Part one saw our very own Jesse Holden completing his ‘5k x 5 days challenge’. Although he may have questioned his idea on day one, he made it to the fifth day and completed the charity challenge. He raised £250 for our 'Wear it Pink' day and Jesse said: "I was hoping for a few quid here and there from the team and residents’ family members, but people really dug deep with their donations! I am so thankful for the kindness and support shown. I won't be doing that again for a while though!".
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Breast Cancer Now’s wear it pink day is one of the biggest fundraising events in the UK. Thousands of people wear it pink in their communities, schools or work places to support this cancer charity initiative. It has been going for over 20 years and people have dressed up, baked, quizzed and done all types of sponsored challenges to raise much needed funds.
The second part of our fundraising at Parris Lawn, saw one of our favourite entertainers, Liam Joseph come in and serenade our residents. We would like to thank Liam for bringing some glamour to our residents and team. He is quickly becoming a favourite amongst our family and it's always a treat to have him with us!
An overall brilliant day and thank you to all who took part! A wonderfully pink and bright day to help such a great and important cause and we shall look forward to seeing you take part in our fundraising next year.
