Parris Lawn Wellbeing Coordinator Completes Five Day Running Challenge For Charity
Keeping Up the Fundraising Tradition
Last year, Parris Lawn Care Home supported St Peter & St James Hospice with a similar initiative where Customer Relationship Manager, Jesse, put his running shoes on, set himself a ‘5 Day 25k’ target and raised much appreciated funds.
St Peter & St James Hospice is situated in Haywards Heath, just 30 minutes away from Parris Lawn in Ringmer, and a strong relationship has been built between the two. When Paige recalled Jesse’s efforts from last year, she decided that it was her turn to take on the fund raising activity. Paige loves keeping fit and is a keen runner but has never challenged herself in this way before and was keen that her efforts would benefit a charity – a first for her.
Treadmill Takes Centre Stage in the Parris Lawn Bistro
The Parris Lawn team and residents were fully behind Paige’s ambition – to run 25k over 5 days – and she thought it would be nice to bring the action close to home. So, instead of heading for the beach or a local park, a treadmill was set up in the Parris Lawn Bistro and Paige’s runs were watched, cheered and encouraged by residents and team mates each day. Despite suffering from a few painful blisters, her progress was smooth and her treadmill running really impressed the residents.
Having reached her goal, Paige explained, “Seeing Jesse complete this challenge last year really motivated me to do it again – but faster! Parris Lawn has a great relationship with the hospice and they help so many people, so I really wanted to support them with a fundraising activity.”
Paige’s Fundraising Efforts Applauded
Paige’s efforts raised £400 and a cheque was presented to Wendy Agate from St Peter & St James Hospice from who said, “Your commitment, Paige, makes such a difference in helping us continue to provide essential care to people with life-limiting conditions. We are so grateful for your amazing effort and generosity”!
With two years of fundraising complete and a great relationship forged between Parris Lawn Care Home and St Peter & St James Hospice, there are big plans to continue working together in the future so watch this space!
