Praise for kind and respectful team at Guysfield

Guysfield Residential Home, in Letchworth, has been praised in its latest CQC report for having a kind and respectful care team who know the residents well.The care home was rated as Good in each of the five inspection categories - safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led – during the visit, which took place in September.Residents told the Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspectors that the care team were skilled in meeting people’s needs. “Staff are all good, they know what they are doing,” said one.Another added; “The staff are lovely, they’re very good and kind.” Inspectors praised the team as being attentive, patient and for knowing people well.Part of the Caring Homes Group, Guysfield Residential Home provides residential and dementia care for up to 49 elderly people. The home is located in the beautiful conservation village of Willian, just a mile to the south of Letchworth Garden City, in Hertfordshire.Residents told the inspectors that food at the home was very good, there was a menu board on display in the dining room and choices were offered. A mealtime was observed and staff seen to be pleasant, patient and offering help to residents. One resident said; “The food is good here and there are snacks if you want them.”Home activities were also praised with the coordinator seen to “bring things to life” and provide varied sessions with the emphasis on fun. A ‘Wish Tree’ had been introduced and staff at the home worked towards fulfilling the wishes of the residents which were written onto leaves and attached to the tree.The report continues, saying that staff were seen to be kind and caring and that people’s privacy and dignity were respected.Pawel Michalewicz, Home Manager, said: “At Caring Homes we want to ensure that our home is just that – a caring home. We are all extremely happy that the CQC inspectors have given us a Good rating in every category.”Pawel is praised in the report with inspectors seeing him to be kind and caring and engaging with people in a lighthearted, professional way and showing he clearly knew people well and cared about them.One relative said; “He is amazing – he deserves to be the manager. He’s so caring and he’s always there if you need anything. He would be the first one to help if there were any problems.”To find out about life at Guysfield Residential Home inspection team spoke with nine residents, three relatives, five members of staff, the manager and the regional manager. Three support plans and three staff files were viewed.
