Red Noses for Whittington House
27th March 2017
Residents and team at Whittington House Nursing Home in Cheltenham are proud to announce they raised £50.00 for Comic Relief though a number of activities held during the day at their home. The morning kicked off with the sale of raffle tickets and members of our team got into the spirit of the event by donning red noses and donating a £1. There was a quiz for residents and their families and the raffle draw. The winners of the raffle were; Margaret, Annie, Brian (relative), Edna, Jean, Phyllis and Theresa. The residents thoroughly enjoyed the quiz; activities such as this are not only fun but a great form of mental exercise that helps to keep the mind sharp while enhancing cognitive function. Studies confirm that exercising the brain offers real benefits for the elderly as questions get them engaged, thinking around subjects, asking questions and collaborating. They are also a great and fun way to spend time enjoying the company of others and increasing social interaction. Our in-house Chef also got involved too, with the kitchen producing delicious homemade Malteser cupcakes in support of the charity, which were served with teas and coffees to end the day off.We were delighted our residents' relatives came to our home to help support this very worthy cause and to share the day with us all. It was a great day for all involved and we look forward to our next charitable event.Whittington House Nursing Home in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire is a modern, purpose-built home and provides residential, nursing and specialist dementia care for up to 66 people. If you would like to find out more about life at Whittington House, or would like to speak to a member of our team, please contact us on 0808 223 5396 or [email protected].Did you know … Comic Relief was launched in 1985, but it wasn’t till “5 February 1998 when Lenny Henry and a group of children in Ethiopia celebrate the first ever Red Nose Day.
