Residents make waves at Parris Lawn
There is a new favourite game at Parris Lawn Care Home in Lewes, rollerball parachute!
Parachute games help to develop and create trust between our residents, whilst practising movement and coordination. With the game waves residents hold the parachute tightly, and move their arms up and down to make small and large waves. At Parris Lawn the health and wellbeing coordinators have added a ball, residents use their arms to move the ball from side to side across the parachute, trying to stop it dropping to the floor and keep the movement going.
We all really enjoy this game, it encourages our residents to come together and exercise, but not in the traditional way. Sometimes we include music, but just using our voices can be plenty. Our resident work together and follow the directions given by the care team and each other.
Maybe we will try a few more games soon.
