Sanford celebrate St Andrews Day
1st December 2016
The residents at Sanford House in East Dereham celebrated St Andrews Day this week.Tartan was worn by both residents and staff in celebration of all things Scottish. For lunch the residents enjoyed an exquisite traditional Scottish meal prepared by our head chef enjoyed of haggis, tatties, and neeps, followed by St Fillans Puddings for dessert. In the afternoon we were joined by Roger Bayes, a local bagpiper who filled the home with Scottish music as he marched through the corridors. We also attempted to learn a few Scottish words too, not that we were very successful.Entertainment in the form of music which envelopes singing and dancing is great for everyone with so many benefits to the residents. Not only does it promote a form of fitness and social interaction by getting the residents together with each other, family, friends and the care team, but this helps improve general mood, self esteem and even relaxing.Joan Auton, Manager at Sanford House said, "The residents really enjoyed a traditional taste of life north of the border."[gallery size="medium" link="file" ids="16680,16679,16678"]Sanford House provides specialist residential and dementia care in a purpose built environment for up to 40 elderly people. If you would like to find out more about life at Sanford House and the care we offer, or to request a meeting with our Home Manager, please contact us on 0808 223 5533 or [email protected].
