The Harvest Festival comes to The Orchard
The Orchard Nursing Home in St Albans held their own Harvest Festival Service for residents and staff earlier this month.
A Harvest Festival is an annual celebration that occurs around the time of the main harvest of a given region. With the differences in climate and crops around the world, harvest festivals can be found at various times at different places.
It was a wonderful afternoon that started with a lovely service by one of our residents Sister Janet, who led a service with a Hymn, Prayer, Bible Reading and Final Prayer. Our chef Rod made us some gorgeous cupcakes and Harvest Sheaf for the residents to enjoy. We also displayed all our food donations from staff, relatives, and friends for the food bank donations for St Albans City and District Council.
We have also been collecting goods for the food bank for St Albans City and District Council throughout October. We held a coffee and cake morning for people to enjoy and drop off their donations while the wellbeing team done a whole shift (8hrs) sponsored silence which raised £95 to go towards food bank donations. Our Customer Relations Advisor and the Wellbeing team went to the Food Bank Warehouse to drop off all the donations and they were very thankful for how much we had collected.
We would like to thank everyone who donated.
