The Orchard thank local firefighters
The residents and team at The Orchard Nursing Home had the pleasure of the St Albans Fire Station team coming to the home to celebrate Firefighters Memorial Day which takes place each year on the 4th May. The whole team from the St Albans Fire Station came, which meant two fire engine trucks arrived so everyone could have a look.
Talking to the residents the firefighters went into detail about the equipment on the truck and the uniform they must wear, they then let the residents spray the hose which they found exciting and fun.
The home treated the firefighters to refreshments, cupcakes and a gorgeous Lemon Meringue Pie which was kindly donated by Michelle who works for Dunelm in St Albans.
It’s safe to say the residents thoroughly enjoyed the event and we look forward to welcoming the team back to the home for future events and working with them in the local community. To say thank you the residents made thank you cards for them to take away and display at their workstation.
Everyone from the home wanted to say “Thank you very much to the St Albans Fire Station team for coming down to our home we are beyond thankful for your hard work saving lives and helping those in the community.”
