The Pines Nursing Home celebrates ‘Good’ CQC rating
The Pines Nursing Home are celebrating after being rated 'Good' in all five areas of its latest Care Quality Commission (CQC) report, following an unannounced visit from CQC inspectors praising the home for its “safe” and “friendly” care towards residents and relatives.
The inspection was conducted by an inspector, a specialist advisor and an Expert by Experience who considered five key questions; is the home safe, is the care effective, are staff caring, are they responsive to people’s needs, and is it well-led.
As part of the CQC report, the inspectors spoke with six residents and five relatives, as well as the home’s care team and activities coordinator.
In the CQC report, staff were found to be “well trained, caring and kind”, receiving thorough inductions, appropriate training and ongoing development to ensure residents were safe and protected from harm.
Observing kind interactions between staff and residents during group activities and at mealtimes, staff were found to support residents to have maximum choice and control of their lives, supporting them in the least restrictive way possible and in their best interests.
Several residents informed the inspector that The Pines felt ‘like home’ with relatives also echoing the same sentiment, stating that the nursing and care staff always respect the dignity and privacy of their loved ones.
One relative said: "It is excellent. My relative knows she is well cared for. She always says she is comfortable and looked after. We are very pleased and grateful about everything. We have peace of mind as we all live so far away. We cannot thank them enough."
Another family member said: "My relative seems to be happy and I ask her if she is and she always says yes. She loves some of her carers and they are amazing with her. Some of the care staff go out of their way to look after her.”
Passionate about supporting residents to bring them a sense of purpose, inspectors found this was reflected in residents' care plans. One relative said: “They try to enrich their lives. They had a fish and chip party for the Jubilee which family and friends were invited to."
Home manager, Heather Said, couldn’t be happier after Caring Homes’ The Pines was rated ‘Good’. She commented: “At the heart of what we do is a desire to provide everyone we support with the opportunity to continue to live life to the full and this recent CQC rating is recognition of all the hard work our amazing staff do day in and day out to deliver this.
“We are very proud of the care we provide at The Pines and it has been a pleasure to hear our residents and relatives speaking so highly of us to the inspectors.
“Looking ahead to the future, we are looking to continue to build up the care and services we provide but at this present moment, we are going to celebrate this wonderful milestone for the home.”
