The results are in for Mellish House at the Care Home Olympics!

The residents at Mellish House care home in Sudbury have been entrants in the Care Home Olympics over the last few months.Due to the weather, the third group of the 2017 Suffolk Care Home Olympics was completed last week. There have been clear benefits for the residents with the regular participation in sport, helping to ease stress and negativity as well as general fitness.Fishing

• The residents thoroughly enjoyed the fishing challenge but unfortunately did not finish in the top 4, but this gives us something to work on for next time.

Boccia

• Mellish House residents scored 14 and finished in joint second place (securing 18 points each), well done!

Curling

• As the homes started the final sport, a win for 4 of the 7 homes could have resulted in overall victory. 5 homes did score over 100 points in the curling. Mellish clinched the curling title with 123 points, 8 points ahead of second place. Amazing skills!

Overall

• Final points allocation left 4 homes all above 50 points, but only 2 separating first place and second place. Unfortunately Mellish House narrowly missed out on qualifying for the final with 53 points and shared joint third place.
