There's Norway Whittington would rather be
Whittington House Nursing Home in Cheltenham hosted their first themed day of the year by visiting Norway this week.
Arts and Crafts club had been busy all week colouring flags, Vikings and Norwegian artifacts which were used to decorate the dining rooms & tables on each floor. The residents, relatives and staff dressed up in the colours of the flag and Norwegian costumes.
The in-house chefs prepared a special menu of traditional Norwegian dishes, which the residents and their relatives really enjoyed.
During the afternoon the residents and their visitors gathered in the lounges to take part in a fact finding mission about Norway followed by a quiz. Those that had travelled to Norway were then able to reminiscence about their time there.
The themed days are always very popular as the destinations are chosen by the residents during the activity committee meetings. Activities like these help to reduce social isolation by promoting positive engagements for all.
Stay tuned for our next visit to Canada.
