A ‘Tree-mendous’ Christmas Tree at Laverstock Care Centre

Every year, St Thomas's Church in Salisbury is transformed into a winter wonderland; a spectacle of colour, light and the joy of Christmas as they hold their annual Christmas Tree Festival. Over 100 individuals and local organisations take part and again this year Laverstock Care Centre took part by entering their own ‘Christmas No 1’s tree’.Residents and the care team helped with decorating the musical tree which was designed by Activities Coordinator for Laverstock, Barry Pentelow. The ‘tree-mendous’ tree was decorated with no 1 hits from the 1950’s to the present day and included songs such as ‘Frosty the Snowman’, ‘It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas’, and ‘White Christmas’.The festival was seen by over 15,000 people; one of the largest in England and money collected during the event were given to local charities. Music was performed throughout each day by local choirs, orchestras, groups and individuals and delicious tea, coffee, homemade cakes and biscuits were served to all guests.Christmas Variety ShowMeanwhile at the care home, due to popular demand there will be two Christmas Variety shows taking place on Thursday 15th December and Friday 16th December. Residents, relatives and the care team will be treated to a medley of Christmas carol singing, dances, and festive refreshments throughout the afternoon.Christmas Decorating CompetitionResidents and the care team at Laverstock Care Centre are taking part in a friendly home competition by decorating their floors ready for Christmas. A small prize will be given to the best dressed and festive looking floor which will be chosen by Maddie the homes Podiatrist.There’s plenty going on at Laverstock Care Centre this Christmas!
