'Twiddle Muffs' presented to Sanford House

Janice Unsworth, Manager of BHS Norwich, attended Sanford House alongside eight colleagues to present 34 handmade twiddle muffs to the Care Home.The twiddle muffs were made by BHS employees as part of a local community project and were displayed on the wall of the BHS restaurant until Friday 17 July when they were handed over to the Home Manager of Sanford House, Joan Anton. Joan received the items on behalf of residents at Sanford House who suffer from dementia.‘Twiddle Muffs’ are items used by various NHS Foundations throughout the country for Dementia patients. They provide warmth, company and sensory stimulation with colours, textures, etc. which offer benefits for Dementia patients.Carol Bidewell, who works at BHS, was the link between BHS and Sanford Nursing Home. Her mother Enid, who suffers from dementia, has been living happily at Sanford Nursing Home for the last five years.She said: 'The team are so nice and loving, it has been good to do something for them and the residents. They give me peace of mind, I am so thankful for the great care and support that they offer my mother. It is lovely to be able to give them something back.'Joan Anton, Manager of Sanford House Care Home, said: 'Thank you to Carol and to BHS for this lovely donation of twiddle muffs for our residents. It is so pleasing that they have taken the time to make these for us, and the gift will be appreciated by our residents.
