Whittington House Care Home Celebrates the Summer Solstice
While the Great British summer may have been a little on the shorter side this year, that hasn’t stopped the residents of Whittington House from having their fun! On Thursday 22nd June, residents of our Cheltenham care home were treated to an exciting display of Morris dancing. This was courtesy of one of the UK's esteemed all-female Morris dancing troupes and formed part of the home’s summer solstice celebrations.
Summer Celebrations At Whittington House
The sun was beaming down upon Whittington House as our residents gathered in anticipation. The Cheltenham care home’s gardens were to be the stage and, as ever, they didn’t disappoint. With a pleasant covering of dappled shade, the Morris dancers put on a lively and well-choreographed display that was much appreciated by everyone in attendance.
No strangers to celebrations, the event also included a delightful cream tea prepared by Whittington House Care Home’s skilled chefs. There were also some lovely wine coolers that were made by our very own healthcare assistant, Kelly, to help quench everyone’s thirst. The occasion was not only an opportunity for the residents and staff to bask in the glorious weather, but also a chance for everyone to sing and dance.
Thoughts And Appreciations
Angelika Ziomek, the Home Manager of our care home in Gloucestershire, expressed her enthusiasm for the event: "What a special day we had at Whittington House on Saturday. Residents at Whittington House were very excited at the prospect of the Morris dancers joining us for an afternoon, and they weren’t disappointed!"
John, a resident, also shared his appreciation: "The performance was amazing, and we were treated to some lovely food. The weather made it all the more enjoyable."
John’s comments were echoed by Jake Lines, the Customer Relationship Manager, who remarked: "It was great to have welcomed England’s Glory into the home and their performance was like something I have never seen before. It was great for our residents to be able to experience something totally different to what our normal activities are."
