Whittington House take off at The Aviator
6th June 2017
A selection of residents from Whittington House Nursing Home in Cheltenham excitedly boarded the minibus to jet off on our first trip to Staverton Airport. Once there we all enjoyed a lovely lunch at The Aviator Pub, whilst watching the planes and helicopters take off and land.We took advantage of the good weather and sat outside after lunch to enjoy an ice-cream and the atmosphere. This was a thoroughly engaging activity allowing our residents a chance to improve their mobility during their time out.The change of scenery really impacted the residents' moods uplifting their spirits being out in the community. It also allowed them a chance to reminiscence about the holidays and the travelling they had done when they were younger.Social occasions like this benefit the health and wellbeing of our residents. They provide an opportunity to improve their motor functions, mental state and emotional wellbeing by relieving stress. Self-confidence is gained and it provides an opportunity for them to try out new things and make new friends. By the end they have achieved a real sense of accomplishment. The trip was a massive success and the first of many to come!If you would like to find out more about life at Whittington House, or would like to speak to a member of our team, please contact us on 0808 223 5396 or [email protected].
