World Cocktail Day at Horsell Lodge
The residents at Horsell Lodge Care Home celebrated World Cocktail Day in style! The day is celebrated to mark the publication date of the first definition of a cocktail on May 13th in 1806. Head Chef Matt took on the role of mixologist and took great pleasure in creating a colourful variety of cocktails and mocktails to appeal to the residents’ differing tastes - truly a feast for the eyes, a treat for the nose and a thrill for the tastebuds!
The red berry champagne cocktails were a particular alcoholic favourite and the non-alcoholic drinkers were quite taken with the orange tropical mocktail punch. The pinky /white frose cocktails were very potent, so residents preferred to steer clear. The Sherry Cobbler cocktails were nicely dressed with mint leaves.
Joyce a resident at the home was happy to accompany Claudia (Wellbeing Coordinator) to shop earlier in the day for some nibbles to accompany the fabulous drinks, she enjoyed the independence of choosing what to buy and scanning all the products at the end.
