Guysfield residents enjoy day trip to farm
Guysfield Residential Home recently went on their monthly trip. This time the residents picked Standalone Farm as their destination. Five residents were accompanied by members of staff from different departments as well as relatives, who kindly volunteered for the day.
The fun began on the bus, the journey was filled with chat and laughter. On the arrival we were given a wristband each, and bought feed for chickens.
Our group sat in the cafe and ordered cakes and hot beverages. It was lovely to hear the stories, some residents used to come to the same farm with their grandchildren. When we finished in the cafe we started exploring the farm. Firstly we went to the field to feed chickens and ducks.
Everyone was able to see rabbits, pigs, cows ,donkeys and even stroke the horses. We had a group picture taken with alpacas in the background. Once we finished exploring the farm we made our way to the gift shop. Shortly after, we strolled back to the mini bus for the trip home.
On returning home residents were full of enthusiasm and shared their experiences with fellow residents who didn’t want to go. This trip was another great success! Next month we will be going to the library for a talk from the guide of Hatfield House and a local garden center.
